Supporting Mixed-ability Arts

Keynote Speaker & Arts Judge

I had the opportunity to be the keynote speaker at the Encephalitis Society’s AGM. The Encephalitis Society provides a dedicated service to people affected by Encephalitis (i.e. swelling of the brain) globally.

I spoke about Art and Neurology people directly affected by encephalitis, including their families, carers and encephalitis advocates. My talk included: (i) Cases of creativity after brain injury, (ii) Art therapy, and (iii) Art and neural plasticity (i.e. rehabilitation)

I was also asked to be an art judge for their Expressions of Encephalitis arts competition. I judged the competition alongside former 2008 Olympic Gold Medalist in Swimming, Rebecca Adlington, Emmerdale actor Matthew Bose, and a number of other arts judges.
